COTABATO CITY: Anti-narcotics agents nabbed here on Thursday night a farmer and seized from him some PHP136,000 worth of suspected shabu drugs.
Gilbert Buenafe, director of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency – Bangsamoro Autonomous region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-BARMM) said suspect Simion Hadjinor Angkal, 35, a farmer in Sitio Masigay, Barangay Rosary Heights 10, was arrested in an entrapment at around 11 p.m.
“The suspect did not resist arrest after noticing that his house was surrounded by PDEA operatives following the exchange of cash and shabu with our poseur-buyer,” Buenafe said in a statement Friday.
Seized from the suspect were 20 grams of shabu, various identification cards, a mobile phone, and the marked money.
Buenafe said a PDEA follow-up operation is underway against the cohorts of the suspect, whom intelligence reports revealed, was a member of a drug syndicate operating in the city and the nearby areas of Maguindanao and North Cotabato.
The suspect will be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
