What is Ranao Star

The Ranao Star is the longest running community newsweekly published in the Islamic City of Marawi, Lanao del Sur, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), Philippines.

It was founded in 2003 by Masiding Noor Yahya, a veteran Maranao independent journalist and thinker, dubbed as Dean of Mranaw Journalists and Patriarch of Muslim Journalism in the Philippines.

The Ranao Star first held offices at Banggolo district, the commercial heart of Marawi, the only Islamic City in the Philippines.

After the 2017 Marawi Siege which devastated the heart of the city, it was reissued as Ranao Star Philippines, and held a satellite office in nearby Iligan City.

Now it retains its original name after transferring to its present headquarters. It is still published by Ranao Star Publishing House with Rocaya Sumndad Otical Yahya as its publisher and general manager.
