DAGUPAN CITY, Aug 4 – – The Philippine Information Agency -Region I turned over the donation for its PIA Cares project to the West Central Elementary School I (WCES-1) in Dagupan City on Monday, August 2, 2021.
PIA Cares is a humanitarian endeavor of the employees of PIA Region I in light of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, where they voluntarily give a small part of their salaries to those who request for assistance.
PIA Regional Director Jennilyne Role said with the little amount put together, PIA-1 afforded to purchase a printer and some paper supplies to be donated to the recipient school.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has drastically changed how government agencies deliver their mandates to provide the best public services. We at PIA started the PIA Cares project in 2020 as our own little way of helping schools,” Director Role said.
The project donation was received by WCES I Principal Ma. Rita Teresa Rinoza, along with Brigada Eskwela Coordinator Frizzle Tandoc and teachers Marilou Sanio, Titania Jacob and Leonora Fernandez at the PIA office in Pangasinan.
Rinoza said the printer donation is a big help to the school as even the newly-brought printers at the start of the school year have bogged down due to the bulk of modules printed weekly.
“Kami po ay taos-pusong nagpapasalmat at sabi nga, if everyone is moving forward together then success follows,” Rinoza said.
The principal said the modular scheme of learning is two-is-to-one (2:1) and therefore requires swapping of modules after disinfection.
As much as they want an online learning scheme, Rinoza said the school gives consideration to the plight of parents who could not afford to buy gadgets and internet connection for their children, thus modular learning is adapted. She said the school prints 100 copies of every module weekly.
In 2020, ‘PIA Cares’ donated a printer set to the San Fernando City South Central Integrated School (SFCSCIS) in La Union province. The WCES I is the project’s second recipient. Philippine Information Agency
