ILIGAN CITY–The Chamber of Commerce & Industry Foundation of Iligan Inc. (CCIFII) and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) are continuously rolling out support to assist micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) survive and thrive amid the global health crisis.
CCIFII President Reggie Punongbayan said the Iligan Chamber with the support of DTI opened an MSME Help Desk to promote and safeguard the interest of MSMEs.
“This is to empower the rising entrepreneurs in creating globally competitive MSMEs that are regionally integrated, resilient, sustainable and innovative especially this challenging time,” she said during the Kapehan sa Iligan Chamber with Philippine Information Agency Wednesday, July 28.
Trade and Industry Development Specialist Ma. Welissa Domingo said DTI supports the advocacy of Iligan Chamber because they considered MSMEs as ‘drivers of inclusive growth and development of the economy.’
“The Help Desk will primarily serve as a conduit between the MSMEs, different government agencies, and private organizations nga pwede makatabang sa development sa [that can assist in the development of] MSMEs,” she said.
She said the MSME Help Desk which will be manned by Iligan Chamber aims to improve the business climate by allocating government programs that will create ease of doing business, enhance MSMEs management and labor capacity, and improve MSMEs access to finance and market through information dissemination.
Punongbayan said the MSME Help Desk is one of the commitments of the Iligan Chamber in the Leveraging, Industry, Government, Academe Networks and inclusive Community Engagements (ILIGANiCE) program which was launched last month.
A convergence program between Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology, Department of Science and Technology Region X, DTI-10, and Iligan Chamber, ILIGANiCE seeks to improve and enhance the goods or services of MSMEs particularly in the areas of research and development, technology upgrading, and other innovation-related needs.
