Let’s unite for Allah’s pleasure: Datu Casan Cana

MARAWI CITY: A member of the famous Top 90 of the former undivided Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) has urged the Bangsamoro Muslim Ummah (community) to unite and stop bickering with each other.
Professor Datu Casan Cana, also a former professor of the Mindanao State University (MSU) in Marawi City, said there is no other time to unite stronger for the success of the Ummah Islamiah.
“Today is Ramadan, a holy month in which Allah opens the Gate of His Mercy and listen to our prayers,” Cana said. “We pray to Him to forgive us all and give us what is good in this world and in the hereafter and save us from this pandemic virus and from the hellfire.”
“Let’s strengthen our similarities and forget our differences for the pleasure of Allah if we are true Muslims,” he added.
The Top 90 comrades were the MNLF fighters led by Prof. Nur Misuari who had their training on guerrilla warfare in Pulao, Pangkor, Malaysia in 1969. They completed their training in 1971 to become combatants at a young age.
After Nur Misuari’s joined the government as embodied in the 1976 Tripoli Agreement, a group of his officials and comrades bolted from the MNLF and formed a new group, the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) which now leads the new Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) after entering into an agreement with the government.
Cana, also a Maranao traditional leader in the Lima Pumagsopa sa Marawi (5 Principalities of Marawi), appealed to local government officials to help ask the national government open the mosques for their Muslim constituents to pray on Eid’l Adha, one of the two major festivals in the Muslim World.
