DAVAO CITY: The Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (DCCCII) has assisted various businesses by facilitating channels for trade especially among sectors where suppliers and buyers have difficulty sourcing materials.
“The first initiative was organizing a Buy Lokal community viber group to match suppliers and buyers of various goods that can be delivered under quarantine rules. More than 50 establishments are part of the group,” says Cherrylin Casuga, DCCCII Vice President for Industry.
The Bankerohan on Wheels program empowers market vendors to do palengke delivery and bring them closer to customers from all over Davao City,” Casuga said.
Several vendors have obtained their food passes from the city government and are now receiving delivery orders from customers from all over the city, especially those that have difficulty going to the public markets, including resellers and local stores.
“This gives an additional opportunity for our market vendors,” she said.
Based on information obtained from various online markets and palengke delivery services, volume of fresh food being moved through delivery palengkes has grown to around 1,000 -2,000 kilos a day.
