DAVAO CITY, Aug. 3- Just hours after achieving a silver medal finish in Olympic boxing, Nesthy Petecio has been gifted with a P10-million residential condominium unit by Suntrust Properties.
Petecio’s fully furnished condo unit reward is located at Suntrust’s One Lakeshore Drive inside the 11.2 hectare Davao Park District in Lanang, Davao City.
Nesthy Petecio settled for silver after she lost to eventual gold medalist Japanese boxer Sena Irie at the Olympic women’s featherweight boxing finals held today (Aug. 3) in Tokyo.
Petecio’s feat matched the best medal finish by Philippine boxers in the Olympics. Anthony Villanueva was the silver medalist in the men’s featherweight division at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics while light-flyweight fighter Mansueto Velasco got the silver at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
Her silver medal further reinforced the country’s best ever Olympic performance, where weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz won the gold. Two other boxers, Eumir Marcial and Carlo Paalam are assured of bronze medals and will be going for the gold medal in their respective weight classes.
“We are very proud of this huge accomplishment of Nesthy Petecio. Her silver medal in the Olympics is a historic one because this women’s featherweight division of boxing debuts only in Tokyo Olympics and she is the first silver medalist in the category. Rightfully she deserves this award from our chairman Dr. Andrew L. Tan for the pride she gives to the Filipino nation,” Atty. Harrison Paltongan, president of Suntrust Properties Inc. said in a message.
Suntrust Properties Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Megaworld Corporation, who earlier gave a condominium unit prize at Eastwood City in Quezon City to the first ever Filipino Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz.
