PWDs urged to get vaccinated soonest

ZAMBOANGA CITY, July 22 – Carmelita Bolo, a coordinator and member of the Persons with Disability (PWD) community in Zamboanga City encourages the PWDs to support the vaccination program.

“Bueno gayot kita mga PWD manda ya man bakuna para protektado kita y tambien pwede ya kita ole trabaha,” she said.

[PWDs really need to get vaccinated to be protected so we can already go back to work.]

Bolo added that the PWDs face challenges during the pandemic since they cannot go to work considering that they are at risk from the virus.

Bolo is one of the Barangay Coordinators for PWDs in Zamboanga City, who is also working with Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) as part of the Care Able Project of Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). Care Able serves the PWD community through information dissemination and trains the barangay officials to share the rights and benefits of the PWDs.

Given the challenges, she continues to serve her community to empower them. “Alegre iyo kay ta pwede iyo servi na di atun PWD community,” she added.

Bolo encourages all the PWDs in the city to register in PDAO to avail the benefits and assistance for them.
