CALOOCAN CITY (PIA) — A magnitude 6.7 earthquake struck Batangas on Saturday morning, 4:49 am, 24 July 2021, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
The epicenter was 16 kilometers southwest of Calatagan, Batangas with a depth of 116 kilometers. According to PhiVolcs, it was of tectonic origin.
Meanwhile, there is no tsunami threat to the Philippines following the earthquake.
Consequently, another earthquake hit the same area of Batangas at 4:57 a.m., and its magnitude was recorded at 5.1 with a depth of 107 kilometers.
No damage is expected but there may be aftershocks. Philippine Information Agency
