CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: Most business establishments in the city are “generally compliant” during the first night of implementation of the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ), according to the “Disiplina Muna (Discipline First)” Advocacy Team on Wednesday.
Antonio Resma Jr., team vice-chairman, said during the first day of MECQ implementation on June 1, only one establishment along Corrales street was issued an Ordinance Violation Receipt (OVR) for operating during curfew hours.
“Generally compliant, though there are only a few reprimands but we saw last night that almost everyone complied and cooperated,” Resma said.
The Advocacy Team urged all business establishments to strictly follow their required capacities under the MECQ status to help in the government’s fight against rising Covid-19 cases in the city.
He assured all establishments of the team’s more intensive monitoring to enforce the guidelines imposed by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
Meanwhile, DTI Misamis Oriental Provincial Director Almer Masillones, in a virtual presser on June 1, said indoor dine-in services can operate under MECQ but with only 10 percent capacity, and outdoor dine-in services at 50 percent capacity.
He said other establishments that provide non-essentials services can operate with 50 percent capacity; while establishments that provide essential services can operate with full capacity.
Resma said they will continue issuing OVRs to establishments that violate the guidelines.
“Yes we (have already) issued OVRs. The penalty for the establishment is possible revocation or cancelation of their business permit,” he said.
He added that the team shall also monitor establishments that operate beyond curfew hours and those that offer unlimited alcoholic beverages, contrary to the DTI guidelines of two bottles per serving.
