COTABATO CITY, June 3– A total of 9,600 vials of Sinovac vaccine arrived at Awang Airport in Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao Wednesday morning.
Dolores Peregrino, cold chain manager of the Department of Health-Center for Health Development SOCCSKSARGEN Region said the allocation is intended for the remaining individuals under the A1 to A3 priority groups. These include healthcare workers, senior citizens, and individuals with comorbidities.
The vaccine will be immediately distributed to health facilities in different parts of the region once the allocation list is finalized.
As of Wednesday, DOH-CHD XII already received 114,820 doses of Sinovac vaccine and 95,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine. Based on the June 1, 2021, 6:00pm data of the department, a total of 99,087 individuals already got their first shot of the COVID-19 vaccines while 38,008 individuals completed their second dose.
Arjohn Gangoso, health education and promotion officer and spokesperson of DOH-CHD XII said the department is continuously encouraging the public, particularly those belonging to the priority groups, to get vaccinated against the coronavirus disease 2019. This is to get added protection against the effects of the virus.
Gangoso also emphasized the importance of practicing the minimum health and safety protocols even though one already gets two jabs of the vaccine. (PIA Cotabato City)
