MARAWI CITY, May 19–The local government of Marawi City is distributing 25 kilos of rice to internally displaced persons (IDPs) from various transitory areas Tuesday, May 18.
More or less 7,000 sacks of rice are expected to be distributed to temporary shelters in the city and nearby municipalities, including Bakwit Village in the municipalities of Matungao and Saguiaran. This is also shared with LGU personnels, especially the city’s frontliners
Chief of Staff Dr. Emilda Gandamra-Taib stressed that the local government sees to it that all IDPs will be given service, even those that are already staying outside the city.
“Malaki man ito o maliit na shelter [Be it a big or small shelter], they will be included in our relief operation… Lahat, miski sampung tao lang ang laman ng shelter ay pupuntahan namin [All of them, even those that only have 10 people, we will still go there]. There will be no one to be left out. Lahat kasali sa lahat ng mga nakastay sa shelter [Everyone will be able to join to those who stay in a shelter],” she emphasized.
Taib also bared that their distribution will carry on until they make sure that every IDP has duly received their share.
She then encouraged the siege victims who are staying until now in temporary sites to maintain their faith as the government in its best effort to bring back the city.
“Pagsusumikapan namin para kahit papaano, mayroon kaming maibahagi sa kanila. Kunting tiis na lang at sinusubukan nating gawin ang lahat ng ating magagawa sa pamumuno ni Mayor Gandamra,” Taib expressed.
[We strive so that in a way, we will be able to provide something for them. Just bear a little while and we are doing all that we can do under the leadership of Mayor Gandamra.]
Meanwhile, recipients of the rice their gratitude to the local government for their effort.
