COTABATO CITY: North Cotabato Gov. Nancy Catamco received Tuesday her first dose of the Sinovac vaccine during a vaccination program held at the provincial hospital in Kidapawan City.

Catamco was the first local chief executive of North Cotabato to receive the Covid jab following the vaccine rollout prioritization protocol.

“I feel good, I’m doing fine,” Catamco said after getting her first jab.

Joining her in the inoculation program at the North Cotabato Provincial Hospital in Barangay Amas were the provincial government’s heads of offices, nurses from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, and other front-liners of the North Cotabato Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO).

During the program, Catamco also received the Reverse Transcription – Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) machines from Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte that the latter coursed through North Cotabato Board Member Shirlyn Macasarte.

Catamco lauded Mayor Sara for the donations.

Aside from RT-PCR machines, the IPHO also received 18,000 sampling kits, 5,000 clinical thermometers, 2,500 pairs of medical gloves, 2,500 N95 masks, 1,000 surgical masks, 2000 pairs of disposable gloves, 15 CVC kits, 200 towels, and 40 pump infusion kits.

This is the second time North Cotabato received RT-PCR machine donations.

Earlier, Catamco received a molecular laboratory that included an RT-PCR machine from the Energy Development Corporation.

“These facilities were placed at M’lang District Hospital,” she said.

She said the pandemic should not make the people of North Cotabato think like “it is the end of times because the government is doing its best to contain the pandemic.”
