MARAWI CITY: The local government (LGU) of Marawi City has extended assistance to Amai Pakpak Medical Center (APMC) here on Tuesday to establish a Biomolecular Laboratory Facility that will help in the immediate detection of Coronavirus disease (Covid-19) positive in the locality.
City Mayor Majul Gandamra handed over P2 million to AMPC Chief Shalimar S. Rakiin on Tuesday for the realization of the facility which is a key to enhance the immediate result if a tested patient is Covid-19 virus carrier.
Gandamra said in a statement this support of the city government is only one of the interventions it is doing which include relief goods and financial assistance to the needy residents to enhance the actions against Covid-19.
Gandamra also on Tuesday led the relief distribution in the city barangays of Wawalayan Coloocan, Tampilong Matampay, Cabingan, Amito, Fort, and Poona Marantao.
The city regular relief operations aim to provide food assistance to the needy affected by its Community Quarantine Guidelines (CQG) especially those who have not been assisted by the national government through the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) and Social Amelioration Program (SAP).
Recently, the LGU Marawi with Lanao del Sur provincial government, the APMC and the integrated Provincial Hospital Office (IPHO) opened a community quarantine facility for returning residents to Marawi and Lanao del Sur from areas with high rate cases of Covid-19.
“The LGU Marawi believes that resolution of this problem (Covid-9) is not only based on one aspect but a holistic approach where it is not only focused on relief assistance but also on monitoring Covid carriers so that interventions will be effective to stop the coronavirus local transmission,” said Gandamra.
“While the measures implemented by the LGU are effective to stop local transmission of Covid-19, it is not reason for the residents of Marawi and Lanao del Sur to be complacent,” he added.
Gandamra reiterated his advice to the local constituents to follow guidelines of the city and the province of Lanao del Sur through the Inter-Agency Task Force EID Lanao del Sur and Marawi City to effectively stop the spread of the coronavirus in the locality.
