ILIGAN CITY: The barangay local government unit (BLGU) of Salipongan in the municipality of Mulondo, Lanao del Sur, has extended assistance to its constituents amid the outbreak of the pandemic coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).
Salipongan Barangay Chairwoman Arifa Datumanong and her husband Moh’d Nor Datumanong went house-to-house in their village to distribute relief goods to their constituents.
A villager who preferred anonymity told the Ranao Star that Chairwoman Datumanong did this in response to the call of the President to help the barangay constituents amid this health emergency.
Salipongan is the first barangay in Lanao del Sur that the media has reported to have responded to the call of the President to take care of their villagers.
As of this posting, nitzens in social media have been saying many barangay chairmen in the province are nowhere to be found.
The couple said in Facebook that goods should be given to those in need in their barangay.
“Sa oras ng pangangailangan at sakuna, laging handa at anomang oras, karamai mo ako barangay ko,” posted by Kapitana Datumanong. (In time of need and adversity, always prepared anytime and I am with you my barangay.)
“So tamok na sii bo sa donya. Na so kaugop ko pithangisaan na gyanan eh mapuloto oka ko akirat,” the kapitana said. (Material wealth is only good for this world. Helping each other is your provision in the hereafter.)
