TARAKA, Lanao del Sur: The chairman of Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) has promised to make the municipality of Taraka a model town in Lanao del Sur even as he promised to help uplift the socio-economic well-being of its constituents.

MinDA Secretary Emmmanuel Pinol said this when he visited the town on Tuesday and led an orientation on the agency water supply and livelihood programs among farmer-beneficiaries held at the municipal gymnasium here.

Pinol told reporters earlier that the municipality of Taraka will be the first local government unit (LGU) in Mindanao that will avail of MinDA’s spearheaded Solar-Powered Irrigation and Drinking Water Program.

The Taraka water project will benefit about 200 households and will cost P20 million, with 25 years loan guarantee.
