Adiong leads peace summit on local security concerns

Lanao del Sur provincial governor Mamintal “Bombit” Alonto Adiong Jr. led some 100 participants from various multi-sector groups of the province who convened here today to discuss and tackle the compelling security concerns in the Province that included petty to heinous crimes.

Dubbed Lanao del Sur Peace Summit 2015, the one-day affair was sponsored by the Institute for Autonomy and Governance (IAG) in collaboration with the provincial government of Lanao del Sur and the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) with the support of the Australian Government.

It was attended by local chief executives, government line agencies’ heads and representatives, leaders of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), the media and other stakeholders.

Atty. Benedicto R. Bacani, IAG executive director said the undertaking is in line with the larger program to interface the functions and also to improve the working relations between the Provincial Peace and Order Councils (PPOC) and multi-sector organizations and the normalization bodies, such as the Joint Normalization Committee (JNC), Joint Peace and Security Committee (JPSC), Independent Decommissioning Body (IDB), and the Transitional Justice and Reconciliation Commission (TJRC).

This is the first activity in which policy makers and power stakeholders are directly involved in such kind of consultation.
